Obviously when I first set foot on the campus, I was both excited and nervous about my month's stay. I 'm shy around the first few hours, but I slowly began to adjust to having a roommate, and staying at UCSD.
Today, I began to work in my cluster, Engineering Design and control of Kinetic Sculptures. As predicted, like every first day at school, many of the clusters, including mine, were given the safety procedures. But unlike school, the staff at UCSD presented the instructions in a way that kept everyone's attention.
Fastfoward 30 minutes. My cluster arrived in our classroom, where we will be discussing several topics about engineering. We were given a small video that explained to us the importance of innovation to an engineer. For my opinion, it is a very informative video.
One lunch break later, my cluster was divided into two groups. My group went to a computer lab to begin our tutorial on using computer programs to devise a blue print of our first project, a functioning pendulum to keep time in seconds. After creating a blueprint necesary tool in our pendulum. My group switched places with the other half of the cluster, who were just instructed on the proper procedures in the workshop. This is where the true fun begins. My group watched closely on how to work all the tools in the workshop, and we begin construction of our clocks tomorrow too.
Today was my first official day of COSMOS, and I already feel that I already have been here for a while.
