So, this is my first post for the summer, and this first day has been going alright.
In the morning, we had the safety lecture, which was a lot like the one back at school, except there are a lot more ways that you can get hurt here...
Then, we had the first cluster lecture. The whole thing was really interesting, it's just that there was so much information. I wished we could have had a five minute break or something in between for us to digest all of the info. The IDEO video (PA pride all the way!) that they showed was amazing. That really got me pumped up for our activities. It would be extremely cool to work there, if I ever get the chance. Then, we went took a tour of the studio, which is pretty spacious. The stuff there is like the Industrial Tech class back at JLS, except with a lot more high-tech stuff. They have a Lasercamm there which is $100,000.
Lunch was fun. I met a lot of new people, some from NorCal and some not, which is cool. The afternoon was probably the best part of the day, since that was the time that we got to do all of our hands-on activities. We got our own, get this, safety goggles AND screwdrivers. Haha, maybe I will bring them to science class when school starts again, and not have to wear the racoon eye-d ones that the school has. So, we made threads (sp?) in the two bottom holes of our base, which is basically making the grooves that a screwdriver would lock into when you screw it in. Then, we went to the Auto-Cad place. That was frustrating at times, because I kept on messing up on some of the commands/functions, but Brooks and Scott were helpful with the whole process and I finally got the hang of it.
Then, at around 4ish(?) we came back to ERC and we discussed the COSMOlympicS stuff that we are going to do. I'm not going to go into much detail, because there might be other clusters checking out this site..... All I have to say is that the other clusters better bring all they've got on Thursday, because we are in it for the win.
Dinner was alright. The chicken and carrots was good, although I do miss boneless chicken breast! What was not so good was the mint watermelon salad. Mint and watermelon don't go well at all, and it had a weird after taste. It wasn't like a regualr salad, and it wasn't like a fruit salad....hmmm... Nonetheless, the brownies were good.
Our suite meeting went well, and then we segued into pot painting, which was quite fun. And right now, it's 7:16 p.m., and I am in the comp lab working on this and some other homework.
'night,
Joyce
