Day 1

I woke up this morning amazed at how well I slept! Usually the first night sleeping in a new place is spent in agony, but my sleep was uneventful. Billy accounts this surprisingly good sleep to the nice mattresses we get on campus. I agree.

I am glad that the Engineering 2 building is somewhat far away because we have the opportunity to get a glimpse of UCSD's beautiful campus while walking. I hope we will be able to explore more of the campus in the future. So far I like UCSD.

After safety procedures, we met all of our cluster advisers. The instructor to student ratio is about 1 to 4, with 6 professors/superiors and maybe 24 students. Knowing this makes me more comfortable using unfamiliar equipment in the workshop and moving so quickly through new material and projects.

To you COSMOS parents reading this: your money sending your child to this cluster is well-spent. We have tremendous resources available to us to build, including a $100,000 LASERCAMM. This equipment will optimize our productivity and is one of the main reasons we will be able to finish our projects so quickly.

That's enough for a day,
Vivek Choksi
